5-7 Week Transition Phase
At this stage Rio Grande wild turkey poults are in a transition phase, moving from delicate hatchlings to hardy, feathered juveniles that no longer require supplemental heat. At this stage, they are developing their adult-like feathers, are roughly half the size of an adult hen, and can be acclimated to new environments, such as ranches or farms, for foraging and pest control.
Imprinting
- This age is ideal for releasing onto a ranch or farm, as they will "imprint" on the property if kept in a secure,, familiar, covered area (like a barn or shed).
- They are fully feathered enough to no longer need a brooder or heat lamp
- They will begin to learn to roost 6–8 feet off the ground
- These are wild-strain birds. They are fast, flighty, and require secure, covered enclosures
- We’ve handled the critical early-stage brooding. These birds are fully feathered, off the heat, and ready for your flight pen or soft-release program.
How Pricing Works
You select how many Rio Grande wild turkeys you want to purchase (minimum 10) per batch. You receive every bird that successfully hatches. If fewer than your order hatches, the price is adjusted accordingly — you only pay for the order count you receive. No deposit required!
